Rescuing, Rehabilitating and Rehoming

Welsh Corgis – tails optional...

Our adoption process is simple, yet designed to ensure a good fit for both the dog and the potential owners.

Step 1: Adoption Application

Fill out or download our online application. Submit the completed application through the website or email to submit@corgisncritters.org. Please allow 3-5 days for response.

Step 2: Home visit and interview

Once your application has been approved, we will contact you to arrange for a home visit and interview with one of our volunteers. This is mandatory.

Step 3: Making a Match

Taking into consideration all that we learn about you from Steps 1 and 2, we will make suggestions for dogs that match your family's lifestyle. Only matches may be adopted.

We require a legal contract to be signed for care of the dog. Once all paperwork has been finalized and payment has been received, all that's left to do is enjoy your new companion!

Adopting a Friend

There are many factors to assess when matching dogs to their potential applicants. We consider temperament, lifestyle, family members, demeanor, environment, chemistry, etc. Our primary concern is finding a proper fit for each dog and family. We will not place dogs with the sole purpose of opening a spot for a new rescue. One well-placed adoptee is worth 100 adoptees simply placed.

Our hope is that your home is your new pet's last home.

Adoption fees are as follows: Purebreds - $300 | Mixes - $175 | Seniors (over 10 yrs) - $100. Our fees are set to cover associated costs and enable us to continue to do what we do – rescue and rehabilitate lost, abandoned and formerly unwanted corgis. Expenses include transportation costs of the initial rescue, medical expenses for spay/neuter, vaccinations, heartworm preventative, micro-chipping, training and rehabilitation, plus any additional costs to remedy illness or injuries.

We ensure all of the dogs we place will be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, on heartworm preventative, spayed/neutered and in general good health before adoption. We are now micro-chipping all of our rescued animals to be sure that they can always find their way home.

When you adopt from us you will receive full disclosure of the health, temperament and background of your new pet, to the best of our knowledge, and a lifetime relationship with our organization. We do not knowingly place vicious, aggressive or unhealthy dogs.

We do require that all adopted dogs be kept on heartworm preventative year-round, and live in the house with their new family. We highly recommend continuance of behavioral training, as it will pay off immensely in the long-run and not only improve your relationship with your dog, but add to yours and the dog’s quality of life. See our Resources page for links to recommended trainers in your area and helpful information on training your dog on your own.

We welcome out of state applications with a good veterinary reference; however, due to the new USDA Animal Welfare Act of 2013, we can no longer ship dogs. If you are out of state and would like to adopt one of our dogs, you must travel to the foster home of the dog to complete an adoption. Only actual adopters can pick up an adopted dog – no friends, family or other agents are permitted.
